I'm a software developer who loves to make truly great software.

I've been a software developer professionally for 14+ years. I'm not dedicated to developing software for frameworks, or tech stacks. I make software for real people!

Working with my team (engineers, product owners, designers, QA engineers) and by effectively listening to users, I've shipped countless impactful features and fixes for users over the years.

I have 14+ years of meaningful and impactful experience, but I'm just getting started

My Skills

JS, C# & PHP

Servers need to do powerful things, and I can make them do those things on a bunch of different platforms. JavaScript, .NET and PHP cover the vast majority of what's in use by real companies, and I know scalable and maintainable ways to use them.

Frameworks & Libraries

React, Redux, NodeJS. Applications are complex, and have powerful frameworks & libraries to help do a lot of that work. Why re-invent the wheel when there are packages available for use. I know how to leverage and use them in a safe and secure way to speed up development time.

Communication

High bandwidth communication and maximizing processes around information sharing is a must for any team AND individual. I know that collaborating with team mates, stakeholders and users is paramount to creating and maintaining world-class software.

Collaboration

I'm confident in what I do well, but I am smart enough to know when I won't do so well. Which is why I rely on the people around me to make the software I create & maintain even better. John C. Maxwell said, "Team work makes the dream work" and it's the truth!

My Work

Hoot Draft: Offline Fantasy drafting tool

Hoot Draft

Hoot Draft (formerly PHP Draft) is an open source app written with SAAS deployment in mind that helps Fantasy Sports leagues run "offline" drafts (off-platform from the service they use in-season) in a "presenter" style mode.

CompareHare: price comparison & notification app

CompareHare

CompareHare is a (unreleased) price comparison and alert app that periodically gathers the latest pricing data on products or services the user indicated preferences for, and automatically notifies them of what they consider a good deal.

Originally written for electric and gas utility prices, it was expanded to also include retail items like large home appliances in 2022.

Source is private, but I would be happy to discuss a variety of details about this project with you!

Home Lab: where I tinker and build

Home Lab

Not just one project, but several! My home lab enables me to quickly and easily spin up new instances of any tech stack I'd like to tinker with or use for projects.

The current server runs on Unraid, and deploys a variety of Docker containers, including Jenkins for CI, Nginx for web serving, and any other containers I choose to spin up to run software (MariaDB, .NET hosting, and more!).

The entire instance is private and secure, but I will gladly discuss any element of this project and how it pertains to me as a software developer!
